We have completed a 3D virtual tour according to the museological scenario with the help of an Insta360 camera. The tour provides a 360° view of the museum premises by following navigational points. The virtual tour will also have hotspots where the visitor can get additional information for various exhibits.

The museological assessment and the museological / museographic adaptation of the existing museum space of the Industrial tomato Museum " D. Lawyer» have been completed. Taking into account and according to the basic tour route and the existing axes of the visit scenario, the writing of the museological proposal was completed, which aims at the complete understanding by the visitor of the production processes, technical solutions, and the man-made element, during the period of operation of the factory. The scenario that was created, connects the narrative with the space during the digital tour.

The kick-off meeting last week, was attended by eight (8) executives from the three (3) partners of the research project "Development and production of augmented and virtual reality applications for the narrative tour at the Tomato Industrial Museum "D. Nomikos" with the acronym: DeAR Museum, and MIS 5074586 (project start: December 21, 2020 - duration 38 months).
During the inaugural meeting, which took place via zoom, the implementation plan of the project was presented in detail, the work packages, activities and deliverables to be delivered during the project were explained, the specific responsibilities of each partner were analysed, and the project implementation schedule was agreed upon. Through the discussions and the exchange of views, the main axes for the development of the content were set and issues related to the implementation schedule of the various phases of the project were clarified.
The DeAR Museum project - Development and production of augmented and virtual reality applications for the narrative tour of the Tomato Industrial Museum "D. Nomikos" aims to develop innovative museum narration tools that enhance the experiential experience of visitors to the old tomato factory "D. Nomikos" in Vlychada, Santorini, which has been converted into an Industrial Museum. These tools can serve as templates for developing tour applications in respective industrial heritage sites.
The research project partners are:
- The University of Patras
- Vlihada Village SA (Tomato Industrial Museum)
- 2monochannels Company
The project is implemented in the framework of the action "RESEARCH-CREATE-INNOVATE SECOND CYCLE" and is co-funded by the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the OP "Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation- (EPANEK) 2020.
